The developmental stage lasted from our decision to pursue our research independently to the start of our interview. Though we worked on our research independently in this stage, we still collaborated to create and order our interview questions, and thus our independent research was shaped by our knowledge of that end goal in this stage.

Development of Partner Collaboration (Charlyne)
  • Revising interview questions to meet the purpose of understanding Bazerman’s logic of inquiry.
  • Developing understanding of various epistemological frameworks introduced in class in order to understand where Bazerman is positioned in the various traditions of Writing Studies Research.

Development of Partner Collaboration (Ryan)
  • Discussions with Charlyne at this point allowed me to clarify—to both myself and to her—the various ideas that I was working with and through;
  • Working with Charlyne to formulate questions for the interview sharpened the direction of the research for me, making the task of research less overwhelming
