The developmental stage lasted from our decision to pursue our research independently to the start of our interview. (Re)reading the text was involved in this stage for the both of us as we grew to understand different aspects of the text.

Development (Re)Reading (Charlyne)
  • Preparing for interview by rereading the article for the second time while keeping in mind original questions and concerns.
  • Reading articles such as Elliot G. Mishler’s “Research Interviewing: Context and Narrative,” Eric Bredo’s “A Field to Some Philosophies of Educational Research.”

Development (Re)Reading (Ryan)
  • Facets of the text “unfolded” as I read the text again in the light of the new research I conducted;
  • As I came to understand these previously untranslated aspects of the work, I grew to understand other aspects in a different way;
  • These understandings brought me to understand the importance of the middle range as Bazerman describes it.
